Making ink and pigments greener.
Whatever color they may be.

Our Policy:
"As the world's foremost producer of inks, pigments and color technology, Sun Chemical will lead our industry in developing and producing products which minimize our impact - and our customers' impact - on the environment, and strive to maximize the use of renewable resources. "

We consider it our responsibility to be involved in the communities in which we live and work and to offer direction in meeting today's needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.

Our Approach:
We choose the materials and processes we use so that Sun Chemical reduces our impact on the environment. Sun Chemical strives to manufacture products that meet local regulatory requirements.  We will work with governments and industry trade groups to define, measure and promote sustainability.   We also will build relationships with business partners who share this vision.

By so doing, we will provide economically viable products and data for customers to enhance the sustainability of their products.

Sun Chemical has long been known for innovation, technical expertise, and for the quality and performance of our products. Providing sustainable solutions and careful environmental stewardship are at the heart of our daily work and our strategic direction, worldwide.

Our Progress:
We have adopted the use of materials based on renewable resources, such as soy oil for news ink. We are increasing our use of renewable resource-based materials through our pioneering, vegetable-oil-based EXPRESS™ and Metal-Eco™ sheetfed inks.  Our Advantage® and Hydrotense® packaging inks for corrugated are both made with natural starch.

We are helping our customers to conserve energy with lower-heat Triton™ and HD inks.

To reduce emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) we have pioneered the development of Water-based Flexo inks. We are reducing VOC's further with Liberty™ sheetfed inks, the WetFlex™ flexographic printing process in combination with our UniQure™ inks, and UV-curable news inks.

We are helping our customers to reduce print waste through innovative products such as SunCure Display®, UV curing offset inks for the large and very large format offset sheetfed display printing market.

Optimizing sourcing, design and production
We maximize the use of renewable and recyclable materials, and will devote our technical expertise to increasing their usage while maintaining high-quality standards. We identify and utilize the best-available technology that is both environmentally friendly and economically viable to meet customer requirements. We also strive to source and manufacture our products using renewable energy.

Strengthening the supply chain
Our products are part of wider production and supply chains, and we will strive to make these chains as sustainable as possible. Our decentralized production network means our products are closer to where our customers need them to be. This logistics model has been designed to conserve energy or use renewable energy throughout the process of transportation and distribution.

Advancing waste disposal and recycling
We strive to reduce waste throughout our products' lifecycles, for example, through the recovery and recycling of inks and solvents.  Where waste is neither recoverable nor recyclable we aim to ensure that it is environmentally safe for all probable end-of-life scenarios.  Our products should not inhibit our customers from achieving their sustainability goals. In fact, they must help achieve those goals.
